Days Six & Seven - Porcupine Mountains
On the way to the Porcupine mountains Dick McGarrity spotted this eagle
sitting on a picnic table alongside the canal in Houghton. Maybe it was
expecting to be served lunch.
Lake of the Clouds, in Porcupine Mountains State Park, lies in a narrow
valley between two ridges and is surrounded by wilderness.
The weather is turning colder and people are bundling up more.
Despite the cold weather, it was still a lot of fun.
At the western edge of the Porcupine Mountains, the Presque Isle River
drops over a series of pretty cascades and small waterfalls as it
approaches Lake Superior. Not as dramatic as Tahquamenon Falls, but
still very scenic.
We have reached the end of the "loosey-goosey" extension and it is time
to say farewell and thanks to our rally masters, Noel and Dick
McGarrity, for a very enjoyable rally. Well done!
