Camping with Zack

June 25-30, 2006

Next it was Zack's turn to go camping with us. We went back to Lakeport State Park.

As we drove in to the campground, Zack's eyes lit up at the sight of the playground just across the road from our campsite.

Guess where Zack headed.

Zack is a real connoisseur of playgrounds and this one met his approval.

Lake Huron was very close and we discovered that Zack is also quite a beach lover.

Zack and Grandpa had a lot of fun making sand castles. Here, Zack is putting the finishing touches on this one.

Hot dogs roasted on the campfire are a favorite meal ...

along with s'mores for dessert.

Now, that's good eating!

How can you resist those eyes!

Snuggled into his bed with his favorite stuffed animals, Grandma Bear and Puppy.

Having a laugh with Grandma at breakfast. Bagels are a favorite breakfast food.

With some encouragement from Grandpa, Zack worked on his bike riding skills. He is not ready to give up the training wheels. Maybe next year.

We headed into Port Huron to do some sightseeing. They have a neat museum dedicated to Thomas Edison, who grew up here.

This is a Coast Guard lightship with the Blue Water bridge to Canada in the background. Lightships were used in areas where lighthouses were not practical. This one was in service for about 50 years and was decommissioned in 1970.

We also visited the Coast Guard cutter, Bramble. Zack is sitting in the captain's chair on the bridge.

Zack found another playground in Port Huron and had to try it out. He is becoming a real monkey, despite his grandparents' nervousness when he climbs too high.
