Glacier National Park
June 12-13

After the photography workshop we headed to Great Falls, MT to do laundry, take showers, and do some internet business. Then it was on to Glacier National Park.

The Many Glacier Hotel in the Many Glacier area of the park. It is a beautiful location with gorgeous mountains. Unfortunately, the glaciers are disappearing because of global warming. There are now about 25 glaciers, while 50 years ago there were over 50 glaciers. Those that remain are much smaller than they used to be. Some scientist predict that all the glaciers will be gone by the year 2030.

Since it was our 51st wedding anniversary, we had dinner at the hotel. The food was great.

Subtle Nancy mentioned to the hostess, our waitress, and the manager that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. They took the hint and gave us free deserts. Nancy selected chocolate fondue and they brought a fondue for each of us, while normally two people would share one fondue. It was too much, although the generosity was appreciated.

The next day we took a hike to work off all those calories from the chocolate fondue. This is Lake Josephine.

The Swiftwater Creek, which ran near our campsite.

This buck came into the campground looking for food. Besides the usual fare of branches and grass, he found something tasty in this firepit. After he finished and left, I went to see what was so appealing to him, but only saw charcoal and ashes.

Tomorrow, it is on to Canada and Banff and Jasper National Parks.
